Baloch Regiment Introduction::

The Baloch Regiment of the Pakistani Army is an infantry unit. The current regiment was formed in May 1956 by uniting the Baluch Regiment with the 8th Punjab and Bahawalpur Regiments. Further raisings have grown the Regiment's strength to 27 battalions since then.

The Baloch Regiment, often known as Balochistan, is a descendant of the previous British Indian Army's infantry (formerly Baluchistan). Before 1991, it was known as the Baluch Regiment, but to more accurately reflect the pronunciation, the spelling was altered to "Baloch."

The Baloch Regiment comes behind the Punjab Regiment in seniority. Its senior unit was established in 1798, more than 200 years ago. The regiment served in the military with distinction both before and after Pakistan's independence.

81 Tamgha-i-Jurat, six Victoria Crosses, one George Cross, six Hilal-i-Jurat with one bar, 68 Sitara-i-Jurat with four bars, and six Hilal-i-Jurat with one bar are among the several bravery awards it has earned. The Regiment's vast history of successes includes the Battle of Cochin in 1809 and the Battle of Qaisar-i-Hind in 1971.

In the final week of December 1957, The Bloch Centre relocated to Abbottabad, where it has stayed ever since. The Regimental Center was the last to arrive in Abbottabad. It has now added to Abbottabad's splendor. There are magnificent structures that represent the Center's history and culture.

R D Mackenzie, a late-nineteenth-century British artist, depicted the Balochis as fierce-looking, stern-faced, sharp-eyed, turbaned riders with long hair and flowing beards, all holding rifles.
